Asher, My Artist
The other day I was tucking Asher in for his nap. I could tell he had something under the covers, that I assumed was a book. He normally really struggles to go down for naps but today he was being *so* adorable, I was just going to let it slide. I feigned ignorance and walked out of the room. As I turned around to shut the door, I saw him pull out of his covers an open blue highlighter, and a paper. If it was a book, I would have smiled and left. Seeing as he had an open coloring utensil in his bed I laughed "Asher! We color at the table downstairs!" He gave me a coy smile and said "Okay..." and handed me the paper and marker. I told him he could finish coloring after his nap. When I looked at the paper, I was *shocked* at what I saw. "Asher, did YOU draw this!?" "Uh huh." "You did!? All by yourself!!?" "Uh huh. But I didn't draw the tail." He told me he was drawing a cat.
Now, ladies and gents, no one has ever drawn Asher a smiley face before. Or a cat. He just picked up his marker and started drawing what he wanted too.
Watch out people, we have an artist on our hands!
(I know this might not seem like a big deal to some of you, but he's 2. Brayden, my 4 year old preschool, still doesn't even draw circles. Asher has been drawing them for about 6 months. So to have him throw this together and have it look like something real? It's phenomenal to me. Oh, and today in church, he drew a dinosaur. Spiky back, and circles on it, like a giraffe.)
