Thanksgiving

Yesterday we had a great Thanksgiving! Sean and I got to sleep in til about 9:30. We got up and headed over to his parent's house for breakfast. We had aebel skiver (sp?) and bacon. It was so good!! Aebel Skiver is a danish breakfast. Its kind of like a miniature roll that you open and squeeze fresh lemon juice over. Then you sprinkle it with powdered sugar, and eat! We usually have a competition to see who can eat the most and Sean and his sister Caiti both ate more than 25! After breakfast, we hung out, took a nap, and got ready for Thanksgiving dinner! The original plan was to eat at 2, but since we were still all so full from breakfast, we didn't end up eating til 3:30. We had a typical Thanksgiving feast. Lots of different salads, turkey, yams, mashed potatoes and gravy, homemade rolls, sparkling cider, etc etc etc. We then played games, Apples to Apples and Scattergories, and ate pie! It was such an awesome day. Just being able to eat and relax all day long, and not having to worry about anything!!

Another Baby Appt

Sean and I had another baby appt on Tuesday, November 21st. We got to hear the hearbeat again, and we heard the baby kick! It was so awesome! The heart was beating anywhere from 150 to about 168. It was so awesome to hear, and to know that things are still going so well! Sean had a priceless look on his face. He is really excited to be a daddy! We have our ultra sound set up for December 20th, where we will hopefully be able to find out the gender! Since it is so close to Christmas, we are going to have the midwife put the gender in an envelope, and we'll open it on Christmas morning with the family! (That is, if we don't figure it out ourselves while looking at the ultra sound.) I am finally starting to feel pregnant instead of just sick! It's exciting!!

Sunday Dinner

Sean and I love cooking in the kitchen together. We love getting online and finding new recipes and experimenting with them. We don't ever follow the recipes exactly because we like to add our own flair. Surprisingly, they almost always turn out!

We have 9am church on Sunday, and since we get home a little after noon, we have the rest of the day to do whatever we want with. This past Sunday, we talked about a few things that we wanted to do, then decided on inviting a couple over for dinner. Dinner was scheduled to be eaten at 4, so at 1 we threw potatoes in the oven then took an hour nap. When we got up, the real cooking began. After carving out the insides of the potatoes for Twice Baked Potatoes, I set out on making Golden Baked Macaroni and Cheese. Sean started working on Pork Steaks with Mushroom Gravy. After everything was in the oven (since we only had one, they all got to share :) we did 2 dishwasher loads of dishes, then started setting the table. For drinks we had home pressed and canned Apple Cider (thanks to my parent's bringing it the last time they visited)and grape juice. The food was so good! They were all experiements and we would change a couple things about each one next time we make them, but it was fun to just try it out and get to hang out with friends at the same time! I'm pretty sure there will be a lot more experimenting in our kitchen over the next several years, and I'm okay with that.
