Cannon Beach

Yesterday was Sunday and it was 100 degrees outside at least. After church, Sean, our friend Danniell and I decided that we wanted to go to the beach. We changed into our swim gear, packed up a little picnic lunch and headed out to Oregon's famous Cannon Beach. We left at about 4:30pm in the afternoon and got there a little over an hour later. We hopped out of the car and headed towards the beach! The three of us took of our sandals and enjoyed the warmth of the sand. Even though it was getting late in the day, it was still in the high 80's lower 90's while we were on the beach. Danniell and I ran way out into the waves and even though it was a warm day, the water was still really cold! We let our legs and feet numb and then played in the waves for a several minutes. The 3 of us took tons of pictures of us being funny and stupid. We got pictures of Haystack Rock and then we headed back. We wrote our names in the sand and drew our hands in the sand then headed back to the car. Some might think that it isn't worth the drive (an hour each way at least) to play on the beach for just over an hour but I disagree. We had a blast! We took tons of pictures and created a memory that we'll remember for a long time.

On the way back from the beach is the Largest Sitka Spruce Tree in the United States. We pulled off the road to check it out...again, with the camera. We took pictures of us and the tree and then went on a small trail that led to the river. We threw rocks and took yet even more pictures. Headed back home traffic was horrendous. Who woulda thought thousands of people would be heading back toward Portland on the 2 lane Highway at the same time? Yeah, slight oversight on our part. Needless to say, it took us a whopping 2 1/2 hours to get home. The day was awesome. The hour plus on the beach was way worth the driving and gas and the weather was too great to ignore!

Our New Home

Sean and I are in the process of buying a home. We are buying it with Sean's brother Josh, and are really excited but nervous and anxious as well! It is one story with 3 beds and 2 baths. It has a decent sized front yard and back yard which is nice! It was built in the 70's so it needs a little work but mostly just painting and stuff like that. We are really excited about it and can't wait to move in! We close in early July, so I guess nothing is really official until then but we'll see! It will be nice to have our own place, and its a little closer to work for me which will be nice. It's in a nice area that is really secluded by parks and bike trails! It is going to be an awesome adventure!

Our Story

Sean and I met on August 28th, 2003. I had just graduated High School, and was off to college at Brigham Young University – Idaho. My second day in Rexburg, Sean and his roommates came over to invite us to go bridge jumping. We didn’t want to go so his roommates left to go find different girls to go but Sean decided to stay because he thought I was cute. I wasn’t interested, as my previous boyfriend and I had just broken up but I thought Sean could be fun to hang out with. My roommate Jill, Sean and I played Frisbee in the parking lot while listening to Michelle Branch. Then we went for a walk and that night watched Ten Things I Hate About You.

Over the next week we hung out every day. We went to the gardens, walked around campus and talked about anything and everything. We felt extremely comfortable around each other and everything just went really smoothly. About 4 days after we met were on a walk and ended up laying down in the grass facing each other and talking. We talked about how comfortable we were with each other, even after such a short time. We felt we knew each other so well, even though it had only been four days. This was the day he kissed me. We ended up hanging out every day that week, which turned into every day that semester.

After that semester at school, I moved back home. We were going to start dating other people but we just couldn’t bring ourselves to do it when we realized that we had already found who we wanted. I flew to Rexburg and visited him for his birthday, then moved back to Rexburg a semester later for more schooling. After a year and a half of dating, Sean proposed to me over a formal dinner, and then took me to see Singing in the Rain at Seattle’s 5th Ave Theatre. The night was perfect! We got married 6 long months later in the Portland Oregon Temple. The day couldn’t have been more perfect!!!
